Men’s Fall Knitting Retreat
Omigosh…has it really been a whole month since I posted on my way to the Men’s Fall Knitting Retreat? The retreat was absolutely fantastic. And though I had hoped to post while there, it was simply too full of wonderful activities and field trips that there just wasn’t time.
We went to Skacel Knitting Company and got to tour their warehouse of yarn and needles.
Seeing that much yarn in one place sends a knitter into euphoria and spasms at the same time! Can you believe those are two rooms full of Addi Turbo Needles?? We had a wonderful evening at the home of Karin Skacel, enjoying good company, dessert, and wine. I was introduced to an alcoholic drink called Blueberry Tea, which is dangerously delicious, meaning it would be easy to drink two or three glasses of it! We also went to Earthues, and had a wonderful time indulging in indigo dyeing.
Perhaps, as always, the best time was simply being with about 30 guys, in the same room, all knitting, laughing, and learning from each other.

Oh…and show and tell was truly amazing!! The level of skill demonstrated in the projects was so inspiring. Lace seemed to be the main event this year, and one piece after another of stunning beauty was brought forth. My camera kept dying on me (ARRGH!), but Crafty Andy has a wonderful set of photos on his photostream on Flickr. However, I did manage to click this photo of the piece that had us all in stitches! 8^)
Let’s just say that I’ll never look at frozen yogurt again in the same way!
